Brooklyn-based Major Elevator Corp. delivered a two-elevator package to the recently completed Charlotte of The Upper West Side mixed-use property at 470 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side (UWS) of Manhattan. Major Elevator President Kody Tokar tells ELEVATOR WORLD the company provided one machine-room-less passenger elevator with a Torin machine and a Smartrise controller and one commercial, hydraulic elevator. Both units were purchased from Delaware Elevator. The elevators serve a nine-story building with seven full-floor condominiums and ground-level retail developed by The Roe Corp. and designed by BKSK Architects to Passive House standards, according to New York YIMBY. YIMBY observes the structure has a façade of red brick with distinctive Italian terracotta fins framing the window grid along the main elevation. Passive House features include a constant supply of filtered air treated with UV light to eliminate pathogens.
